Season 1 · Danga Bay, my peaceful home
The Storybook
The whole season, ready for reading aloud — about 15 quiet minutes. The films are still being painted, but the story is already here.
Part 1 of 6 · Misty dawn
Our Home Among the Roots

A quiet morning. Mist floats above the river, birds call from the distant trees, and sunlight slowly reaches through the leaves. The camera glides over the peaceful mangrove river until it finds an enormous old ficus tree — and a tiny otter nose appears from a hole between its roots.
One pup looks outside. Another pushes past him. Then the little sister, then Mama, and finally Papa. The whole family comes out into the morning: Papa inspects the river, Mama grooms the pups, the brothers chase one another, and the little sister follows Mama everywhere.
Papa leads the family toward the river and the pups race after him. The camera pulls back to reveal the beautiful mangrove. This is their home.
“Deep inside a quiet mangrove forest, beside a wide and peaceful river, lived a little family of five otters.”
Part 2 of 6 · Fresh morning
Mama Teaches Us to Swim

The pups are old enough to learn to swim properly. Mama enters the shallow water and swims slowly while the pups watch from the bank. The adventurous brother jumps in immediately — splash! — and the curious brother follows.
The little girl stays on the bank. Mama swims back and gently encourages her. One paw goes in. Then another. Then she slips — splash! — and disappears underwater for a moment before popping back up, very surprised. And then she starts paddling.
Soon all three pups are swimming together, and beneath the water they discover tiny fish darting past their noses.
“But Mama knew that swimming was only the beginning.”
Part 3 of 6 · Bright midday
The Little Fishermen

Now the pups learn to fish. Mama sits quietly beside the water, waiting. A tiny fish swims past — whoosh! — and she comes back up with it. The pups stare.
The adventurous brother tries and misses. The curious brother tries and misses too. The little sister watches very carefully. She waits. She dives. She misses. She tries again — and this time she catches one. Her brothers look at her in amazement.
Then everyone starts fishing at once, and the river fills with splashing pups while Papa watches from nearby. At the end of the day the family sits together on the riverbank eating their catch, and the little girl falls asleep against Mama.
Part 4 of 6 · Warm afternoon
The Sandy Playground

After a morning of swimming and fishing, the pups discover that their sandy patch beside the den is the perfect playground. One pup rolls down the sand and the others copy him. They wrestle, they chase one another around the ficus roots, and they pop in and out of the den's hidden entrances.
Papa pretends to be asleep. Suddenly a pup jumps onto him. Papa opens one eye. The pup freezes perfectly still… and then Papa playfully chases all three around the bank.
At last the pups roll in the warm sand to dry their wet fur, and lie together, fluffy and tired, while Mama gently grooms them.
Part 5 of 6 · Golden evening
A Golden Evening

The sun begins to set. Golden light passes through the ficus leaves and the river becomes calm. The family sits together beside the water, watching insects fly above the river. A fish jumps — splash! — and the pups get excited and start playing again.
Mama gently calls them back. It is time to go home. The family walks back toward the ficus tree, and one by one the pups enter the den. Papa is last; he looks back toward the quiet river, and then he goes in too.
Inside, the five otters sleep together, the pups curled against Mama. Outside, the moon rises over the ficus tree, the river and the mangrove. Everything is peaceful.
Part 6 of 6 · New morning
Our Little World

Morning comes again. A ray of sunlight enters the den, and one pup wakes — then wakes his brother, who wakes his sister. The three pups sneak outside, Mama wakes and follows, and Papa is already waiting beside the river.
Splash! All five otters enter the water. They swim, they dive, they fish, they play. The little sister, who was nervous at the water's edge at the start of the season, now dives confidently underwater — and her brothers follow her.
The camera slowly rises above the river. The otters become tiny within the enormous mangrove — the ficus tree, the sandy bank, the winding river. The mangrove was a big world. But for the little family, it was home.
“This was their river. Their forest. Their home. Their little world.”
“This was their river. Their forest. Their home. Their little world.”
and tomorrow, the whole day begins again…
