about MyOtterWorld

A peaceful little world

MyOtterWorld is a storybook series about a family of five smooth-coated otters — Papa, Mama, two boys and a little sister — living in a beautiful mangrove inspired by Danga Bay, Johor. It is hand-painted in the warm style of classic Japanese animation, told by a child narrator, and completely peaceful: no humans, no peril, just family, nature, exploration and the joy of a safe home.

It is made by Fur & Feather Studio — a very small studio with a very consistent cast.

How it's made

  1. 1 · The family

Each otter starts as a written character bible — coat colour, one signature marker, one pendant — locked so every image stays consistent.

  2. 2 · The sheets

Turnarounds, expression sheets and action poses are painted for all five otters, then checked against the fur ladder.

  3. 3 · The scenes

Every part of the season is broken into short shots, each generated from the reference pack and the day's colour script.

  4. 4 · The film

Shots are animated, joined, and scored — then the child narrator reads the story over the top.

The design spec sheet for all five otters — to scale, with their coat colours and markings
Designing the family: the actual spec sheet the otters are painted from — five coats on a strict ladder, darkest to lightest, no two ever swapping places.

The real otters

Our family is fictional, but the species is real: the smooth-coated otter (Lutrogale perspicillata) really does fish and play in the rivers and mangroves of Johor and Singapore. If the series makes you love them, the best next step is learning about the ones outside our storybook — and the people working to keep their rivers clean.
