the Dependable One
Papa Otter
Father — den-builder, protector, excellent fisherman
Dependable, strong, gentle father.
Papa is the largest member of the family, with a strong broad body and short velvety deep-chocolate fur. His frosted silver muzzle is the first thing you notice — it is how you tell him from his eldest son, who is almost as dark but has no frost at all.
He built the family's den under the old ficus tree, and he watches over the river with a calm, protective posture. He moves slowly — except when he fishes. Then, suddenly, he doesn't.
He is the one the pups race after at the end of every morning, and the last one into the den every night.
Fun facts
- I am always the darkest otter on screen — if you spot a darker one, that's me!
- My frost is only on my muzzle and chin — never my paws.
- I am calm… until somebody jumps on me while I am pretending to sleep.
